2018 marked 20 years in business for Calgary born OPA! The Greek quick-serve-restaurant wanted to do something special for this notable anniversary. Our challenge was to celebrate this milestone in a very Greek way, while also driving sales in what can be a slow part of the calendar year.
What better way to thank customers for their years of loyalty than by sending one lucky pair to Greece?
A contest was developed whereby every meal purchased granted customers the chance to win a 10-day trip to the motherland of souvlaki itself. We pushed store traffic by utilizing larger than life visuals featuring quintessential Greek scenery and locale. With in-store signage showing exciting potential itineraries, customers could get captivated by the thought of where their winnings could take them.
By leveraging marquee out of home placements, radio and social, we reminded people that stopping at OPA! for dinner on their way home could lead to warm nights lounging in the Mediterranean, too.
Results proved our approach was the right way for OPA! to say thank you. Over 90,000 entries to the contest were received. Social media following went up 6% over the duration of the contest and store sales increased roughly 3% compared to last year.
